This is a great full day experience learning survival skills and Bushcraft in our beautiful woodland on the border of Derbyshire and Leicestershire in Ashby De La Zouch
Have you got what it takes to make yourself at home in the natural world.
The day's itinerary will cover a variety of outdoor survival skills - from lighting a fire using various methods, techniques and materials, to building a protective shelter. You'll explore the psychology of survival, learn to purify and filter water, and experience campfire cooking in the real outdoors.
- Fire lighting:
Learn to light a fire (and sustain it) using various methods and materials including a bow drill. Boil your kettle on your fire so everyone can have a hot drink to start the day.
- Shelter Building:
Experience what its really like to survive in the great outdoors and learn how to build various shelters with natural surrounding materials.
- Cordage, Knots & Tarps
Have a go at making cordage which is a great essential for surviving in the outdoors, learn various knots and how to hang tarps for an alternative shelter.
- Water purification:
Using natural materials supplied learn different methods on how to purify and filter water.
- Campfire Cooking
So you've learnt how to light and sustain a fire, now its time to prep a meal (inc fresh bread baking) and cook it on your campfire!
Pudding is served - to finish off your day you'll get to taste freshly popped popcorn and toast marshmallows on the fire.
